The Return of “Quartero's Curios” - New Update Released in Dota 2
On Friday, December 12, a new update was released in Dota 2 – the “Quartero's Curios” event, which will run until March 6, 2026. This is the second season of the event, during which players can obtain cosmetic sets for Axe, Shadow Fiend, and Shadow Shaman.
As in the previous season, event participants can receive a random set from many previously released ones. However, this time Valve added an important change: the reward can be chosen from five random sets. The first such choice appears at level five and is guaranteed to be particularly rare.
Valve also added the ability to purchase missing levels with Dota+ shards and 10,000 shards can be exchanged for 1 level.

Besides the event, the update revealed a new little frog. Many expected the full release of the hero Bard Frog, but Valve has so far only included a reference. Team Spirit analyst Mark sikle Lerman noted that the pet has suspiciously many animations, and in the game files, he also found a reference to a new name – Largo. According to him, this might hint at the imminent release of a new hero.
The frog is part of the hero (Largo Bard Frog) and also a community event. The frogs have 50 animations, which is a lot for a regular “pet.” These animations use three directions, and some are marked as ult. Most likely, the frogs represent the hero’s ultimate, with different or switchable bonuses depending on the tool in their hands: fan, maracas, drumsticks.
The analyst also added that this frog may already appear in games: it spawns under certain conditions on one of the lotuses. It can be picked up, and then it will follow you until an enemy kills you and takes it.
Previously, the test client revealed the hero Arjun, who might join the Dota 2 roster. The community has long awaited a major update, as it has been over a year since the last hero release, which was Kez on November 8, 2024.
Earlier, Cyberscore shared a possible release date for the new update, which might have turned out to be the “Quartero's Curios” event.
