Dota 2 developers have come up with an unusual format for the Dota 2 Winter Major 2022, which was previously canceled due to the spread of new coronavirus strains. This was reported in the Telegram-channel «Storage of the unfortunate capper«.

According to the source, in February an additional stage will be held in each region. In this playoff-type tournament four best teams in the region will compete for points and money as if they were playing in the Dota 2 Winter Major 2022.

The fact that a lot of DPC points will be at stake in these matches will make them as intriguing as possible. As we know, at the end of the season, points will be the decisive factor in the fight for tickets to The International 11.

In addition to this, according to another source, the number of participants of TI11 will be increased from 18 to 20. A ‘wildcard’ tournament will be held to decide who will get two additional spots at the world championship.
