Dota 2 patch 7.39 has been released
On May 23, Valve released update 7.39, which brought balance changes to heroes and item parameters. Popular heroes like Morphling, Templar Assassin, and Ringmaster were nerfed.
Monkey King, Ember Spirit, and Chen received notable buffs. The patch mainly targets visual improvements and easier interaction. Map changes were also introduced.
General Changes
Radiant Side
- The small neutral camp near the Tier 1 tower has been relocated, and the number of trees in the area has been reduced;
- A second path to the outpost has been added near the Tier 2 tower on the midlane;
- Tree density near the Tier 1 mid tower and Radiant outpost has been reduced;
- The water path near the upper Roshan pit has been widened;
- The lotus area on the safelane has been expanded.
Dire Side
- Several trees near the mid Tier 2 tower were added and adjusted;
- The bounty rune was moved slightly east;
- The slope from Dire triangle to the river and bottom Roshan pit was moved north and simplified by removing two small impassable ledges;
- The Watcher in the Dire triangle was moved slightly north.
Changes to Tormentor, Roshan, and Watchers
Tormentor
- First appearance delayed from 15:00 to 20:00;
- Base barrier strength reduced from 2100 to 2000;
- Barrier regeneration per minute reduced from 5 to 3.5.
Roshan
- Roshan’s roar now shows a global message, similar to banner drops;
- The roar now applies a strong dispel on Roshan and works even if he is silenced or stunned. Trigger threshold increased to 85%;
- Armor bonus per minute increased from 0.375 to 0.4;
- Damage bonus per minute increased from 6 to 7.
Watcher
- Watchers can no longer be activated before the game starts;
- Watcher vision zones are only visible while holding the Alt key.
Game Settings Overhaul
The settings UI was updated with a search feature and more customizable options.
UI and Item System Improvements
- The item buying process has been streamlined with automation and fewer clicks;
- Team items: now you can view allies’ inventories and item plans to avoid duplicates (e.g., Radiance);
- Auto-delivery: the courier can now auto-deliver purchased items, including secret shop trips;
- Purchase marker: you can pre-mark items for auto-purchase and delivery when gold is available. Buyback protection supported;
- Start item display improved with filters to show only relevant choices;
- Buyback status visual improved for clarity and informativeness;
- Dota Plus item suggestions now adapt based on your inventory during the game;
- The "Lifesteal Amplification" and "Spell Lifesteal Amplification" stats have been replaced with a single "Health Restoration" stat, capped between –100% and 100%.
Item Changes
Kaya
- No longer grants 20% spell lifesteal.
- Mana regen amplification reduced from 50% to 40%.
Glimmer Cape
- Magic resistance reduced from 25% to 20%.
- Barrier strength increased from 300 to 375.
Holy Locket
- Healing boost from Holy Blessing reduced from 25% to 15%.
Radiance
- Evasion bonus reduced from 20% to 15%.
Blink Dagger
- No longer provides bonus blink range beyond the target.
Neutral Item Changes
Orb of Destruction
- Item Cycled Out.
Trusty Shovel
- Item Cycled Out.
Chipped Vest
- Returning as a Tier 1 Neutral Artifact.
- Passive: Chipper. Everytime you are attacked, you return 30 damage to heroes and 20 damage to creeps.
Dormant Curio
- New Tier 1 Neutral Artifact.
- Passive: Hidden Potential. Neutral Artifact you choose while holding Dormant Curio will have 30% increased potency.
- Provides an Unleashed enchantment which improves some stats of the next non-curio artifact that you'll choose while crafting. Improved stats will have a special icon in the description to indicate that it is improved by Dormant Curio. All improvements will be listed in this summary under each item's section.
Kobold Cup
- New Tier 1 Neutral Artifact.
- Active: One for the Road. Increases movement speed of all allies within 1000 units by 10% for 6s. Mana Cost: 40. Cooldown: 40s.
Sister's Shroud
- New Tier 1 Neutral Artifact
- Passive: Veiled. Whenever your health falls below 50% you gain a +200% evasion bonus for 8s. Each attack negated by evasion reduces this evasion bonus to 0.25x of its current value.
- Passive: Last Caress. Veiled cooldown is only reset if the wearer dies or kills an enemy hero.
Iron Talon
- Item Cycled Out.
Poor Man's Shield
- Returning as a Tier 2 Neutral Artifact.
- Passive: Damage Block. Grants a 50% chance to block 30 damage from attacks on melee wielders, or 20 damage on ranged. Chance to proc increased to 100% against hero attacks.
Giant's Maul
- New Tier 4 Neutral Artifact.
- Passive: Crushing Blow. Your next attack is a critical strike that deals 150% of your attack's regular damage. Hitting an enemy with an empowered strike weakens them, decreasing their Movement Speed by 10%, Attack Speed by 15%, and Cast Speed by 20% for 4s.
- No Mana Cost. Cooldown: 15s.
