Nix on The International 2025: “It's the best tournament in the last two years”

Content creator Alexander Nix Levin shared his impressions of the opening ceremony of The International 2025 during a personal broadcast on Twitch.

"Compared to the previous TI, [the opening] was gorgeous. Compared to the best TIs, it fell short. But overall, I'm happy. I don't feel as sad as I did after the last TI, where the opening was awful, where everything was awful, where people were standing around in down jackets. Now there's live music, and they've put together a beautiful orchestra. You can see that they've basically done the most they could with their budget.

In any case, TI is by far the best tournament of the year. It's the best tournament there has been in the last two years. In terms of the quality of the games, the arena, the opening, and other things like that. I'm very happy about that in any case."

The opening ceremony of TI14 began with a short CGI video, after which the orchestra performed the main theme of Dota 2 and its variations. This was followed by a video with highlights from previous TI tournaments and a speech about what this tournament means to the world's best players. It all ended with the presentation of the eight playoff participants and a welcome speech by Gabe Newell.

The International 2025 is taking place from 04.09.2025 to 14.09.2025 in Hamburg, Germany, with 16 teams participating. The starting prize pool for the event is $1,600,000. You can follow the progress of the tournament in detail in the report.
