Over a million matches have been played on Largo — the hero's win rate leaves much to be desired

Only two days have passed since Largo’s release, yet players have already surpassed one million matches with the hero. However, his win rate stands at just 41.65%. Despite the bard frog’s clear inclination toward a support role, players are actively trying to build him as a core.

One of the most popular builds includes Aghanim’s Scepter, which enhances the hero’s ultimate and allows him to deal more damage, combined with Kaya and Sange. This approach was also attempted by Topias Topson Taavitsainen. He tried Largo in a couple of mid-lane matches, but his latest experiments were unsuccessful: in the first game, Topson purchased a Spirit Vessel and then attempted to build Aghanim’s Scepter, but lost the match before acquiring the coveted ultimate upgrade. In the second game, Topias decided to rush Aghanim’s Scepter and then added Kaya and Sange — once again ending in defeat. As a mid hero, Largo is clearly ineffective, as he cannot apply sufficient map pressure or have an impact comparable to that of a core.

In contrast to the overall builds statistics for Largo, at high MMR (7,000–8,500) players are actively trying to capitalize on the hero’s strengths. Popular items include Glimmer Cape, Solar Crest, Pavise, and Lotus Orb, which synergize well with the hero’s innate ability: thanks to it, effects applied to himself or allies last longer, as well as Aghanim’s Shard, which causes targeted effects to apply to both an ally and Largo himself. Even so, at high MMR the win rate also reached only 41% across 6,999 matches.

Beyond the right item build, the hero requires a high level of skill to play effectively. In particular, mastering Largo’s ultimate is essential, as it demands proper combination of his three “songs,” similar to Quas, Wex, and Exort on Invoker.

Recall that Kez also started out in Dota 2 with extremely low win rate. On the first day, the hero’s win rate was below 37%, after which the developers released a small update slightly buffing the character. A few days later, when Kez’s win rate approached 50%, another mini-patch introduced nerfs, causing it to drop to 43%. Valve continued to gradually buff and nerf the hero until his win rate eventually stabilized at around 50%. Similar adjustments are likely in store for Largo.

As CyberScore previously reported, Largo has voice lines addressing an unreleased hero — a data miner shared his findings after the release of patch 7.40.
