“We weren’t able to bounce back”, — LGD’s support player commenting on the team’s group stage results at the Esports World Cup 2026
Matheus KJ Santos Jungles Diniz, a player for LGD Gaming, shared his thoughts on his personal form and summed up the team's group stage in an interview at the Esports World Cup 2026.
Speaking about his own performance, KJ stated that he didn’t play his best and plans to work on his mistakes:
“I’m not sure — I think there were two matches where I didn’t play very well — and when I get back to the hotel, I’ll just review a bunch of replays and analyze what I did. But I don’t feel like I played at my peak during this group stage.”
In addition, Matheus believes his team could have performed better as well. According to the LGD support, the result was influenced by general fatigue from the large number of matches played:
“We’re no worse than anyone else, but… I don’t know the exact reason. I think, in part, we were a little tired because we played so much — there were qualifiers and a lot of other work. Yeah, and on top of that, we weren’t at our best, and we weren’t able to bounce back. We played poorly in the first matches against 1W Team and Team Yandex.”

LGD Gaming finished third in their group with a 5-5 record, defeating Inner Circle and OG, losing to Team Yandex and 1WIN Team, and drawing with Virtus.pro. A 1vs1 tiebreaker on Shadow Fiend allowed them to finish one spot above VP in the group, where Santiago TaiLung Olivos defeated Abed Abed Azel Yousop.
In the last-chance round, LGD Gaming’s first opponent will be MOUZ. If they win, the South American squad will face BetBoom Team in a match for a spot in the tournament’s playoffs.
