OG coach Maurice KheZu Gutmann has named the best heroes for each role in Dota 2 that will be easiest for beginners to learn. He also explained the basics of playing each one. The guide was published on the club’s official YouTube channel.
Spectre (Position 1 – Carry)
- Easy to learn, does not require high skill
- Just farm, then ultimate weak targets
- Can retreat after attacking with Shadow Step
- Items: Power Treads → Blade Mail → Radiance / Manta + Diffusal Blade
- Strong in late game, good against new players
Tiny (Position 2 – Mid)
- Only has two active abilities
- High damage, simple combo: Blink → Q + W
- Farm and look for easy targets
- Great at punishing weak supports and noobs
Bristleback (Position 3 – Offlane)
- Just spam W + Q
- Beginners will attack you in your back
- Low cooldown, requires almost no mana
- Items: Power Treads → Vanguard → Aghanim's Scepter
- The most suitable hero for new players in offlane
Bounty Hunter (Position 4 – Semi-support)
- Invisibility = immortality at low ranks
- Track gives extra gold and reveals enemies in the fog of war
- Great for killing couriers and supports
- Very annoying to enemies, easily gains gold
Lich (Position 5 – Support)
- Simple gameplay, no need to worry about mana
- Strong abilities: nuke + slow, shield, stun, and a good teamfight ultimate
- Effective in lane and reliable in teamfights
- Excellent pick for beginner position fives
