GRID announces the second season of CCT DOTA with a prize pool of $400,000
GRID announces the start of the second season of the Champion of Champions Tour (CCT) for Dota 2, now expanding into the South American region. Returning as the stepping stone for professional teams into the competitive Dota 2 scene, the upcoming season will feature 12 events across two regions, a prize pool of $400K, and a new tournament format tailored to streamline competition and raise the stakes for each match from the Group Stage to the Playoffs.
Season 2 will consist of:
- 8 Events in Europe ($40,000 prize pool each)
- Prize pool distribution for Europe:
- 1st place — $25,000
- 2nd place — $8,000
- 3rd place — $5,000
- 4th place — $2,000
- 4 Events in South America ($20,000 prize pool each)
- Prize pool distribution for South America:
- 1st place — $25,000
- 2nd place – $8,000
- 3rd place – $5,000
- 4th place – $2,000
Improving the new season, CCT introduces the GSL format to its Group Stage, replacing the previously utilized Round Robin format. In the second season of the circuit, impactful matches will start from the very start of the competition. The tried and tested GSL format will accelerate the Group Stage and will provide a clear and fair way for teams to qualify into the Playoffs.
The Group Stage will consist of two groups with four teams each where Top 2 from each group advances to the Playoff stage. The 4 teams qualified from the Group Stage will join 4 teams directly invited to the Playoffs into a Double-Elimination Tournament Bracket which will culminate in a Bo5 final.
Champion of Champions Tour is an international series of esports tournaments launched in 2022 by GRID Esports. Initially focused on Counter-Strike, in June 2024 it expanded to include Dota 2, which was implemented on behalf of GRID by GAM3RS_X.
