Dota 2 records its highest average player count in six years
In August, Dota 2 experienced a significant surge in player activity. According to Steam Charts, the game’s average player count reached 532.3K — an increase of 105.6K compared to the previous month. This marks a growth of nearly 25% and the best average result for the game in six years.
The last time a higher average was recorded was in May 2019, when Dota 2 averaged 548.5K players. Peak activity also increased: in August, the game reached a maximum of 818.7K concurrent players — the strongest figure since June 2024, when 869.4K gamers logged in simultaneously.
Notably, this positive trend has continued for four months in a row. The turning point came in May, after which Dota 2’s audience has been steadily growing, recovering from the decline observed earlier this year.
Earlier, CyberScore.live reported that Valve banned over 75,000 Dota 2 accounts.
