Dota 2 has a new reporting system: toxic players can be banned in real time

Dota 2 has released the Summer Client Update that focuses on the fight against toxic players. A new report system, a personal approach to game selection, a new complaint format, and real-time toxicity handling have been announced.

Valve tried to change the matchmaking system, making it more personalized. To be more specific, now you can control who you are going to play with. If you praise someone after the game, this person is more likely to appear in one of your next matches, and vice versa.

"Before, a player could commend other players in the post-game, but that commendation wouldn’t affect future matchmaking. Now, any player you commend will be more likely to show up in your future matches, either on your team or the enemy side. Additionally, we’ve added a “Dislike” button that will ensure players you’d prefer not to play with, for whatever reason, are less likely to show up in future matches".

A new report system that will be based on additional factors:

"There can be a big difference between players you'd prefer not to play with, and players who are outright toxic. Dota’s new reporting system will let you report Toxic Chat, Toxic Voice, Smurfing, Griefing, Cheating and Role Abuse. All reports automatically take into consideration a wide range of supporting hard data: a Griefing report knows whether someone destroyed their items, and a Smurfing report looks at both gameplay and account properties".

Just as importantly, players have no limit on the number of reports they can send. Both allies and opponents can be reported:

"Players can now report toxic behavior at any time during and after the game. The new reporting system also removes the cap on the number of reports you can submit, and now allows you to report toxicity on either team".

Valve will start moderating games in real-time, a toxic player can get muted instantly if they receive a large number of reports,

"When a player reports someone for toxic chat through the in-game scoreboard, that chat will be analyzed in real-time. If the text is determined to be toxic, the offending player will have their voice and chat muted for all players immediately, and for the remainder of the game".

In addition to the modified report system and anti-toxicity, a Collectors Cache was released with colorful sets on Snapfire, Marci, Alchemist, Kunkka, and other characters. It's also worth noting that an update for The International 12 will be released at the end of September, which is where an alternative to the Battle Pass should appear.

As Cyberscore previously reported, a new hero may appear in Dota 2.
