Dataminer denies return of classic Battle Pass
Kirill Fay Serdyukov stated that Dota 2 fans should not expect the return of the traditional Battle Pass this year the one featuring multiple Arcanas, Immortal items, special events and a major prize pool for The International. According to him, developing a full Battle Pass usually takes about a year, and under current conditions, Valve is unlikely to have it ready for The International 2025.
In his opinion, instead of the classic format, the developers might release something simpler, like the Nemestice event, which replaced the Battle Pass during the pandemic. Such an alternative would require much less time to prepare and could include minimal content for example, one Arcana, one persona, one Immortal treasure, and up to 500 levels. Fay also pointed out that the 2024 Compendium looks more interesting than the one from 2023, especially with the addition of the statue section, which is at least visible in the game.

Rumors about the return of the old Battle Pass emerged recently and were commented on by pro player Alik V-Tune Vorobei and Team Spirit analyst Mark Sikle Lerman. Both said they had heard about a possible return of the Battle Pass with Immortal rewards and believe it would spark a strong reaction among players and potentially increase the prize pool of the year’s main tournament.
Despite all the speculation, the chances of seeing the Battle Pass return in its original form remain slim. Valve previously mentioned that they want to move away from the traditional format and focus more on the tournament itself rather than on cosmetic items.
