Boxi revealed why he plays in sunglasses
Team Liquid support player Samuel Boxi Svahn is known for his unique style when competing in official offline matches, often wearing a hoodie and sunglasses. Recently, Boxi explained why he has to dress this way.
Samuel revealed that he feels a bit silly in sunglasses, but he has to wear them due to light sensitivity.
Honestly, I feel like an idiot wearing sunglasses indoors. But I thought, well, it doesn’t matter; I need them. I can’t play otherwise. My eyes get very dry. By now, I think everyone is used to it. So it's fine.
The player shared that, unfortunately, medicine can't fix this issue.
I asked an eye specialist. We ran some tests, and she said my eyes will remain sensitive. Blue eyes are also less resistant to light, probably due to pigmentation. It's gotten worse with age. I don’t know if it’s because I play too much or I’m just getting older.
However, in daily life, Boxi says it doesn’t bother him, and symptoms only appear in large arenas with lots of spotlight exposure.
But it's not something I really want to fix right now. It doesn’t bother me anywhere except when playing Dota. You know, it's not a very normal lifestyle — sitting in front of a monitor all day. But even at home, it’s not a problem. However, on stage with very bright lights and many spotlights directed at me — then it’s worse. Now I have regular sunglasses. And also a hoodie, though sometimes they don’t allow it. At least they let me wear glasses. I think that's fine.
Currently, Team Liquid is competing in DreamLeague Season 24. The team successfully advanced to the second group stage, placing 2nd in their group. However, in the second stage, their performance has been less successful, with Liquid currently in second-to-last place in the group after losses to Team Falcons and Team Spirit.
DreamLeague Season 24 runs from October 27 to November 11, featuring 16 teams and a prize pool of $1,000,000.
As previously reported by Cyberscore.live, Pure shared which carry hero he doesn’t like to play.
