How to ward in patch 7.38 in Dota 2

The reworked map is one of the key updates in patch 7.38. While its size remains the same, it feels even bigger. This is due to the addition of new rivers crossing not only the main jungle but also the top and bottom parts of the map. Additionally, the introduction of new creeps has led to the addition of extra jungle camps and the relocation of old ones. In this article, we’ll go over the most optimal warding spots on the updated map.

Mid Lane

One of the key warding spots is the mid lane. It’s important to provide vision of the power rune, enemy high ground, and potential rotations from opponents trying to assist their midlaner. An Observer Ward placed in these areas will help control the situation and prevent unexpected ganks.

Roshan’s Pit

Roshan has returned to his previous spot in the river. However, just like in the last patch, he moves between two Roshan pits depending on the time of day. An optimal ward near the pit will allow you to monitor Roshan himself, as well as control chokepoints, runes, and part of the enemy jungle. An additional ward in the enemy "Triangle" can also help predict their movements.

Jungle Areas

Warding in large jungles should take into account ramps and camps, allowing you to track the enemy carry’s farm. In the top and bottom jungles, wards should be placed to illuminate key movement paths and important points.

Side Lanes

On the top and bottom lanes, wards are most effective on the ramp near the river in the center. Wards near Tier-1 towers also provide good vision: on the top lane for the Radiant side and on the bottom lane for the Dire side. An Observer Ward in the center of the mid lane is also useful.

Additional control points

The update affected not only the jungles and rivers but also other important zones:

  • Lotus Pools
  • Twin Gates
  • Tormentors
  • Experience Outposts

Controlling the approaches to these locations with wards will give your team an additional advantage. Despite the presence of designated high ground spots for warding, if you want your vision to last longer, it's better to place wards in less obvious locations.

The Key to Victory – Smart Warding

Success in Dota 2 heavily depends on map control, and warding is one of the most effective ways to gain an advantage for your team. Well-placed wards not only help avoid unexpected ganks but also allow for better initiation, tracking enemy movements, and securing key objectives. Make sure to adjust your warding strategy depending on the phase of the game: early on, focus on helping your midlaner and keeping your carry safe; in the mid-game, prioritize jungle vision and Roshan control; and in the late game, block enemy movement paths and gain vision of their base.

By following these recommendations, you can ensure good vision and strategic advantage for your team on the updated map.
