"Crownfall": a major event in Dota 2 – all the details
In April 2024, Valve launched one of the biggest events in Dota 2: the story-driven adventure "Crownfall". The event combines engaging gameplay, an immersive storyline, and unique rewards.
On April 19, the first act of the event, titled "The Markets of Midgate" was released. The main protagonists of the event are Vengeful Spirit and Skywrath Mage, who, in addition to the previously mentioned rewards, also received new Arcana sets.
The story of the Crownfall:
At the heart of the plot lies the tale of the overthrown Skywrath queen, Shendelzare (Vengeful Spirit), and her ally, Dragonus (Skywrath Mage). They lost everything because of Shendelzare's sister, Imperia, a ruthless and tyrannical ruler.
In their despair, the heroes sought the aid of the forgotten goddess Scree'auk. United by a common goal, they gained a chance to restore the rightful heir to the throne and take revenge on their enemies. Players will uncover mysteries and encounter both new and familiar characters along the way.
Gameplay:
- Exploring an interactive map: each new location unveils more details and unlocks side quests.
- Varied challenges: story missions, side quests, and other activities offer rewards for completion.
- Progression tokens: by playing Dota 2 with specific heroes, you earn tokens that can be used to unlock new paths on the event map.
- Reward collection: candies, coins, treasures, and other valuable items make your journey more exciting.
Rewards:
- Treasures: along with the event launch, Valve introduced new treasure sets, including rare and unique sets, taunts, personas, and even Arcana items.
- Candies: collect candies and trade them at the Candyworks Caravan for exclusive sets, couriers, wards, Dota+ subscription vouchers, and other in-game purchases. The Candyworks Caravan also offers items unavailable on the marketplace, such as the Amaterasu courier.
- Crownfall coins: These coins can be used to get discounts in the Crownfall store. For example, 10 coins provide a discount of up to $7.99.
- Exclusive accessories: Along the way, you'll encounter rewards such as loading screens, emotes, graffiti, and voice line packs.
- Double-rating tokens: Place a wager at the start of the game. If you win, your earned MMR doubles; if you lose, the loss is doubled too.
Pathfinder pack:
Completing the main storyline of the Crawnfall is entirely free for all players. Each act includes a themed bundle, and purchasing it unlocks new areas of the map, featuring side quests and special rewards:
- additional treasure;
- Immortal items;
- more Crownfall coins to earn discounts;
- 8 sticker capsules.
Notably, the Pathfinder's pack for the first act also includes exclusive creeps, which will no longer be obtainable after the event ends.
Acts and Event Progression:
The event is divided into four parts, all of which are now available:
- Act I: The Markets of Midgate
- Act II: The Deserts of Druud
- Act III: The Frosts of Icewrack
- Act IV: The Spires of Skywrath
Each act offers a new map, characters, tasks, and rewards. Players can progress at their own pace, as previous chapters will remain accessible until the event concludes.
