Dota 2 player count drops for the first time in half a year
After several months of steady growth, player activity in Dota 2 has declined — marking the first drop since spring 2025. In October, the game’s average concurrent player count was around 544,000, while the peak reached about 866,000. The statistical data was shared by the portals Steam Charts and Steambase.
Dota 2’s audience began to grow back in May, when the average player count was roughly 410,000. Over the summer, it gradually increased — reaching 411,000 in June, 427,000 in July, and surpassing 530,000 in August.
The peak came in September during The International 2025, when the average player count rose to 591,000 and the peak almost hit 961,000, the highest result in several years.
October became the first month with negative momentum: the average number of players dropped by about 8%, and the peak by 10%. Analysts attribute this decline to a natural cooldown following TI. Nevertheless, Dota 2’s metrics remain higher than in spring, indicating consistent interest in the game even outside major esports events.
Earlier, CyberScore.live reported that patch 7.39e was released in Dota 2.
