T1 is a South Korean esports organization founded in 2002 under the name Team Orion by legendary StarCraft player Lim BoxeR Yo Hwan.

Following a partnership with SK Telecom, the club was renamed SK Telecom T1, and in 2019 it was renamed T1.

The organization is considered one of the most successful in esports history, and its Dota 2 division operated from 2019 to 2022.

2019–2020

In August 2019, T1 announced its entry into the professional Dota 2 scene, and Lee Forev Sang-dong became the first player on the new roster.

A few months later, the organization unveiled its full roster, which included Dominik Black^ Reitmaier, Muhammad inYourdreaM Rizki, Saiful xuan Ilham, Tri Jhocam Kunkoro, and Kenny Xepher Deo.

The debut season proved to be challenging. Management made several roster changes. At various times, the team featured Galvin Kang Meracle Jian Wen, Wilson poloson Ko Chin Wei, Karl Karl Matthew Baldovino, and the head coach was Park March Tae-won, who had previously worked with Fnatic.

Despite the numerous roster changes, the team failed to break into the Tier 1 scene.

2021

In early 2021, Carlo Kuku Palad and Matthew Whitemon Filmon joined the roster, and soon after, Nyengnara 23savage Tiramahanon became the team’s carry. This roster went on to become the most successful in the organization’s history.

During the season, T1 won DPC SEA 2021 Season 2: Upper Division, placed third at WePlay AniMajor, became the champion of ESL One Summer 2021, and also qualified for The International 2021. At the year’s premier tournament, the team reached the top 8, marking the organization’s best result in Dota 2.

2022

After a successful season, the team’s results began to decline. Despite finishing third in the second round of the DPC SEA 2021/22 and placing in the top 12 at the ESL One Stockholm Major 2022, the team failed to qualify for The International 2022.

During the season, two-time The International champions Johan Topson Sundstein and Anatan ana Pham also played for T1, but they were unable to restore the team to its former level.

In November 2022, the organization announced the dissolution of the roster and shut down its Dota 2 division, bringing an end to its three-year run in the discipline.
