Valve cancels the first Major of the DPC 2021/22

Tournaments

Dota 2 developers have decided to cancel the first Major of the DPC 2021/22. According to Valve on the official website of the game, the reason for this was the spread of new strains of COVID-19.

Now, the points that the teams were supposed to play for in the first Major will be distributed between the second and third tournaments.

«The winter tour of the DPC 2021/22 is drawing to a close and we have made the difficult decision to cancel the first Major. While there were high hopes that we could host an international LAN tournament, the discovery and spread of new strains of COVID-19 and the resulting increase in travel restrictions made it impossible for all teams to participate in the event. Since the first Major will not take place, we decided to reallocate the DPC points that could be earned from it to the second and third tournaments. Thus, the balance of points between regional and inter-regional play remains the same. We will continue to assess the international travel situation for future major tournaments as the second round progresses», – statement says.

Now the DPC points required to qualify for The International 2022 will be distributed as follows:

Second Major

1st place — 520 points;
2nd place — 310 points;
3rd place — 210 points;
4th place — 105 points;
5th place — 52 points.

Third Major

1st place — 680 points;
2nd place — 410 points;
3rd place — 270 points;
4th place — 135 points;
5th place — 68 points.
