Riyadh Masters 2024: How the EPT ELO Regional System Works

In July, as part of the Esports World Cup, the Riyadh Masters 2024 will take place, featuring 20 teams. Some of the teams that have received direct invitations are already known: BetBoom Team, Team Falcons, Xtreme Gaming, Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid, with the remaining 2 teams to be announced later. Additionally, we have 7 teams that will qualify for the tournament through regional qualifiers. But before the qualifiers begin, 5 more teams will be selected through the regional EPT ELO system. Regional Quotas

Each region is allocated a certain number of slots, calculated based on the competitiveness of the region. The stronger the region, the more slots it gets. Mathematically, this is determined by the coefficient x - 1, where x is the number of teams from the region that have already received invitations to the tournament.

Slot Allocation for the Region

Once the number of slots for a particular region is determined, they are allocated among the teams based on the EPT ranking table. According to the schedule provided by the organizers, the allocation of slots through EPT ELO will take place on June 1.

Let's take the Western Europe region as an example. Gaimin Gladiators and Team Liquid will participate in the tournament from this region, occupying the first two positions in the EPT ranking in the region. In third place is OG, which will participate in the tournament through EPT ELO. But if OG earns EPT points at the upcoming DreamLeague Season 23 and receives a direct invitation to the Riyadh Masters 2024, then Western Europe will get 2 slots, and Tundra Esports and Entity, which occupy the 4th and 5th places in the EPT ranking, will participate in the tournament.

The Riyadh Masters 2024 will take place from July 4 to 21 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Twenty teams will compete in the tournament for a prize pool of five million dollars.
