A new event is coming - new character models have been discovered in Dota 2 files
A new event recently arrived in Dota 2 through a collaboration with Monster Hunter, where players can earn sets with multiple styles by collecting crafting materials during matches.
A day later, dataminers discovered code lines in the game files referencing a large new model of Treant Protector. This could indicate preparations for a new event featuring a boss, similar to New Bloom or Aghanim’s Labyrinth. It is still unknown whether the mode will be PvP or PvE.
The discovered model can be seen in the image below.
Dataminers also found mentions of a visual novel inspired by Monster Hunter, confirming Valve’s work on new content. A similar novel appeared during the Crownfall event.
In addition, traces of a new model for Shadow Shaman were found, though it remains unclear whether it will be a regular set or a full arcana. It is known that the item will occupy the “Weapon” slot.
The last complete event in Dota 2 that introduced a unique map and new mode was Diretide, released in 2022. Since then, Valve has focused on in-game events that encourage regular matchmaking activity, providing only cosmetic rewards.
Players have long requested a return to the classic Battle Pass tied to The International, but this year Valve continues to follow its new Compendium format focused on predictions and tournament viewing. However, after The International 2025, players could receive a free arcana of choice and a discount on the Aegis based on their prediction results.
Many professional players and content creators believe Valve’s main priority now is updating and expanding content in Deadlock, which explains the frequent small patches and the lack of large-scale events in Dota 2.
Earlier, Cyberscore published the final statistics of the BLAST SLAM IV tournament.
