Cosplayers have complained about the organizers of The International 2025 — several participants have already withdrawn from the competition
A Reddit user reported a problem encountered by participants in the cosplay contest at The International 2025. According to the author of the post, the organizers of the championship changed the rules and conditions of the event several times, causing financial problems for the contestants.
The author of the post said that TI organizers initially set a preliminary offline selection date, and participants bought tickets and booked hotels accordingly. Then TO moved the date up a day. As a result, cosplayers will have to return their tickets and rearrange their travel plans.
In addition, the Reddit user noted another problem. Initially, the announcement of the TI cosplay contest stated that participants who advanced to the finals would be refunded the cost of their tickets to the tournament itself. However, this message was later deleted. The author emphasized that cosplayers at The International have always performed for the love of the game, but such unexpected changes to the rules after they were published are hitting participants' wallets hard. According to the user, at least two well-known cosplayers have already canceled their trip to TI due to increased expenses.
The International 2025 cosplay contest will raffle off €18,500. The tournament itself will take place from 04.09.2025 to 14.09.2025 in Hamburg, Germany. As a reminder, TI will also host a short film competition with a prize pool of $43,500.
As previously reported by CyberScore, all participants of The International 2025 have been determined.
