Ace left Team Liquid: who will replace him

Offlaner Marcus Ace Hoelgaard has officially left Team Liquid after spending almost a year with the team. The organization announced the news on its social media, thanking the player for their time together.

Ace joined the club in October 2025 alongside Erik tOfu Engel after parting ways with Gaimin Gladiators. The Danish player took the third position and spent almost the entire 2025/2026 season with the team.

During his time with the team, Hoelgaard became the champion of BLAST SLAM VI and later won 1win Essence II. In addition, the team reached the later stages of major tournaments several times throughout the season.

At The International 2026, Team Liquid finished in 5th–6th place. During the biggest tournament of the year, Ace was unable to show his best level, while the team's results became less consistent in the second half of the season. This could have been one of the reasons for the roster changes following the tournament, although the organization itself did not reveal the reasons for the offlaner's departure.

At the same time, over the past year, the offlaner played 324 professional maps, winning 190 of them with a 58% win rate. His average stats were 7.35 KDA, 544 GPM, and 711 XPM. During this period, he most frequently played Centaur Warrunner, Underlord, Tidehunter, Mars, and Axe.

According to rumors, Ammar ATF Al-Assaf could become the team's new offlaner. The player previously represented Team Falcons, which disbanded its roster and left Dota 2 after the end of the season.

The next major tournament for Team Liquid could be PGL Wallachia Season 9, which is scheduled to take place from 17.09.2026 to 27.09.2026 in Bucharest. The tournament is expected to feature 16 teams competing for $1,000,000. However, the list of participants has not yet been officially announced.

With the third position now vacant, the organization is expected to announce a new player in the near future.
