History

PSG.LGD is the most titled and one of the most famous professional organizations in China.

Until 2018, it was called LGD Gaming, and received the prefix “PSG” after signing a contract with the popular football club Paris Saint-Germain. Over the years of its existence, the club has earned over $16 million in prize money, and since the first entry to The International in 2012, its result has not dropped below 9-12 places.

The first PSG.LGD roster associated with Dota was the ForTheDream team signed in 2009. The club switched to Dota 2 in 2012: after a short training in the new game and a successful completion of the season, he received an invitation to The International 2012, where he took 3rd place. The line-up with Sylar, xiao8, Yao, DD and DDC is remembered by the old fans of the team, however, after an unsuccessful result at The International 2013, it has changed. In 2014, the legendary Somnus, also known as Maybe, who still plays for the club, joined the squad for the first time. True, he did not play at The International 2014, as he was the captain of the second roster of LGD.CDEC, and the main division then took 5-6th place.

Due to further unsatisfactory results, the team was overtaken by painful reshuffles, as a result which was the transfer of Somnus to the main line-up and the return of xiao8. The guys gained a critical mass by winning i-League Season 3 and G-League 2015, and showed themselves excellently at The International 2015 — they took 3rd place and earned over $2.2 million. PSG.LGD showed the best result so far in seasons 2017-2018 and 2018-2019. The roster with Ame, Somnus, Chalice, fy and xNova became the champion of EPICENTER XL and MDL Changsha Major, the winner of other tier-1 tournaments and the main favorite of The International 2018.

As everyone knows, the champions of this tournament and The International OG players became 2019, however, PSG.LGD fought with dignity and won the silver and bronze medals of these championships, respectively. In 2020, the team’s game form began to decline: among relatively large tournaments, it won only China Dota2 Professional League Season 1 and Season 2.

But to talk about serious results, you need to wait for the end of the pandemic — then PSG.LGD will get a new chance to prove himself and finally raise the championship aegis over his head.
