Player K1 from from Heroic Dota 2
Bio
Hector K1 Antonio Rodriguez is a young cyber athlete from Peru who plays at the kerry position. For 3 years of his career he managed to win and earn more than some "old" and famous players. In interviews Hector shows his maturity, poise, desire to win and experiment with heroes to surprise and disorient opponents.
K1 started his journey as a pro player in 2017, and his first more or less serious team was Gorillaz-Pride. Together with other South American players, he managed to get the bronze medal of the Blood in the Streets Americas tournament, which brought the team $2k in prize money. At joinDOTA League Season 13 America, the team won the tournament, which brought them another $2k in prize money.
After a short stay in Pacific Esports and further dissolution of the players' organization, K1 became a member of Majestic esports. Together with Chris Luck, Wisper, Dunha1 and Yadomi, Hector managed to qualify for OGA Dota PIT Minor 2019 and reached 4th place, thus earning $25k for the team. Then with the aforementioned Chris Luck and Wisper, as well as Scofield and StingeR, K1 organized Team Anvorgesa. The team in an instant became the best in the entire South American pro scene and at StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 2 took 4th place. These facts did not pass by the ears of the large organization Infamous Gaming, which soon signed the guys.
Under the flags of a serious organization, K1 and company quietly passed the South American qualifications for The International 2019, and at the tournament itself took 7th-8th place, receiving more than $850 thousand in prize money. After such an impressive result, the guys changed their sponsor to beastcoast and continued playing together. The list of their achievements already includes 7th-8th place at MDL Chengdu Major and DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major, as well as victory at ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Online for South America, which brought the young players more than $100k.
K1 explained the phenomenon of such a stable and high quality game of a team from an unstable region simply: the players are good friends outside of Dota, so after losses, instead of judging and searching for guilty parties, they sort out mistakes and support each other. It seems that these guys have understood the essence of competitive gaming: to have fun and achieve high results when playing as a team.
