Bio
Lu Somnus`M Yao is a Chinese eSports player in Dota 2, one of the strongest players on the mid-lane. Many people remember Lu Yao for his disciplined and skillful games at The International 2018 and The International 2019. He became known to the general public under the nickname Maybe.
Somnus`M can rightfully be considered a veteran - even before the release of Dota 2, he was known among Chinese pubs. Lu Yao has been playing on the professional scene since the days of Dota, where he played in the DotA Greedy team side by side with the legend of that period - the player YaphetS.
The year 2013 was marked by participation in one of the most prestigious Chinese leagues called Dota Elite Community. Somnus`M played there as a member of the VG team led by YaphetS, playing on the midline. The team did not show good results, and then Somnus`M decided to take a year-long break.
In 2014, Lu Yao returned to esports again, immediately joining LGD Gaming. LGD signed a contract with Somnus`M, according to which he was supposed to take the 2nd position after the departure of xiao8. In a year, Somnus`M was transferred to the second team of the organization - LGD.CDEC, and then returned to the main team of LGD Gaming.
In 2015, Somnus`M did even better: LGD Gaming took first place at MarsTV Dota 2 2015 Chinese League and I-league Season 3. At The International 2015 LGD Gaming also showed a decent performance, taking the 3rd place. For 5 years Somnus`M remained in LGD Gaming, and its level of play constantly increased. The year 2018 was especially successful for the team: 2nd place at Dota 2 Asia Championships 2018, as well as first places at EPICENTER XL and MDL Changsha Major. In the same year, LGD entered into a partnership with Paris Saint-Germain soccer club, after which they changed their name to PSG.LGD. Playing under this tag, Somnus`M managed to show the best performances at The International tournaments: 2nd place in 2018 and 3rd place in 2019.
In early September 2020, Lu Yao left the PSG.LGD roster, after which he managed to play on Elephant before moving to Royal Never Give Up.
In 2023, together with Azure Ray, showing visoclassic play was able to take 4th place at The International 2023.
