New Dota 2 mechanics: facets and innate abilities
On the night of May 23, Valve released an update with patch 7.36 that introduced two new mechanics: facets and innate abilities. Now we will talk about them.
Facets
Each hero has at least two facets: they can be changed before the game starts, as well as during the planning stage. According to the developers themselves, the facets allow you to choose the style of play that best suits you or a particular situation.
- For example, when playing Riki, you can choose between two facets:

If Riki chooses Exterminator, his agility increases three times from Tricks of the Trade, when he attacks all creatures except heroes.

And when Contract Killer is selected, he is given extra experience for taking part in kills.
Innate Abilities
From now on, innate abilities are an integral part of every hero: from the very beginning of the game, everyone has a unique skill. They come in two types:
- Some Innates grant a hero a unique effect:
Dawnbreaker's ability is Break of Dawn, which will reveal the entire map at sunrise, regardless of the skill level.

- Some Innates change a hero ability to have five levels and get a free ability point at level 1:
In Kunnka, this ability is Tidebringer.
