Dota 2 community criticizes the words of Cr1t- about "weak Eastern Europe"

World of stars

Recently, Shopify Rebellion player Andreas ‘Cr1t-‘ Nielsen expressed his opinion that Eastern Europe looks weak this season, and Valve was wrong to give 3 major slots to this region.

«Wait, EEU has three Major slots this year? That’s complete bullsh*t. I’m serious, Eastern Europe looks really weak this DPC season. From what I’ve seen, CIS doesn’t seem like a strong region,» Cr1t- stated.

The first to react to these words was Maria ‘Inverno‘ Gunina, sports director of Hellraisers. She pointed out that Rebellion plays in the same division with B8 Esports which looked weak in Eastern Europe even against the teams from the second division.

She was supported by the commentator and analyst Vladimir ‘Maelstrom‘ Kuzmin.

«Interestingly, Eastern Europe is not worthy of 3 slots, in his opinion. Well, I propose to see how his team performs in the Major and whether it can go further than at least one of the 3 teams in Eastern Europe,» said Maelstrom.

Later, Team Spirit manager Dmitry ‘Korb3n‘ Belov joined the public discussion. His reaction was rather mixed. On the one hand, he agreed that there should be a rotation of the number of slots depending on the results in the season, calling the sayings of previous commentators cheap manipulations. But on the other hand, he criticized and considers nonsense the words that the Eastern European region looks weak right now.

«An unpopular opinion, I agree with him. I’ll explain why. The point is when you say «who are you anyway?», «why are you saying this? You’re playing in the weakest region!»… Yes, indeed, North America is the weakest region, but what you say is cheap manipulation. This has nothing to do with the topic that Cr1t- is talking about,» Korb3n noted.

Dmitry began to talk about the real question that, in his opinion, Andreas raised, namely «what does Valve take into consideration when distributing slots for regions?». According to Korb3n, if you look at the situation in terms of season’s results, then the team representing Eastern Europe won one of the Major tournaments, and this is enough not to change anything. Then Valve’s decision looks fair. But if only TI11 results are taken into account, then the decision is unfair, because South America performed better, and at the same time received only 2 slots, while teams from the Eastern European region showed one of the worst results.

«How does Valve evaluate? It is not clear, therefore, his words are, in fact, a fiction. If you evaluate by TI, he is right, if you evaluate by the season, he is wrong. If you do the ranking, then you need to take one more slot from the North American region, because it showed nothing during the season. If this thing is as dynamic as Cr1t- wants it to be, then it should be dynamic to the end. In general terms, what he says is foolish, because he said «CIS looks very weak this season.» If we talk about his words, it’s a complete nonsense. The season has just begun, there were no Major tournaments. It’s not clear how the region will perform, and so on,» the Spirit manager added.

As CyberScore reported, the match between the leaders of the Eastern European region between BetBoom and Team Spirit became the most popular match of the DPC 2023 Tour 1.
