Tournaments

The Ukrainian studio Maincast will not cover PGL Dota 2 Major Arlington 2022 in Russian. This information was confirmed by the head of the organization Vitaliy V1lat Volochay on his Telegram page.

A well-known commentator wrote that an unnamed Russian company won the tender and will now broadcast the last Major of the season. According to V1lat, the Russian studio offered a «surreal» amount of money, which is 2.5 times higher than the market price. Volochay said that after withdrawing from the tender, Maincast is trying to agree on coverage of the events of PGL Dota 2 Major Arlington 2022 in Ukrainian.

At the same time, community caster NoProCast announced that FISSURE has won the right to cover the Major in Russian. The company had to pay $280k to beat other offers. The streamer drew attention to the fact that the official owner of the studio is the founder of U Can Company (UCC), which organized Dota 2 tournaments in Eastern and Western Europe from 2015 to 2021.

Another well-known representative of the Dota 2 community, Dmitry finargot Plyusnin, told that, according to his information, Maincast’s problems are not limited to the lost tender for the coverage of PGL Dota 2 Major Arlington 2022. The Ukrainian studio does not have much chance of becoming the official broadcaster of The International 2022, which will be held in October in Singapore. Finargot predicted that the main tournament of the year will be covered by a new studio that will bring together young talent from different broadcasts.

As CyberScore reported, group stage draw of PGL Dota 2 Major Arlington 2022 has been completed. Many teams were forced to make substitutions due to their players’ problems with obtaining visas. In particular, two-time champion of The International Anatan ana Pham will play for Royal Never Give Up instead of Daniel Ghost Chan.
